Opening Circle Presentations

Dearest parents,

Over the next few months the grade 4s will be hosting opening circle. The schedule is as follows:

May 13 Lexie, Michelle
May 20 Aleena, A.K.
May 27 Alek, Paige
June 3 Medo, Anneka
June 10 Norah, A.W.

Their opening circle must include:
a presentation
partner talk
group discussion

I have said to the student “ask yourselves…
What do you think we should be talking about in opening circle?
How can you present it in an interesting and dynamic way?
Ideas:
story, play, youtube, game, share something”

The presentation should be strongly linked to the student profile.

Thank you for your continued support,
Ms. McIntosh

French Play Fundraiser for Sponsor Child

What a great job that was put into creating French costumes. If your child didn’t have their costume today please ensure they have it tomorrow for the dress rehearsal.

An idea came up in class today: why don’t we hold a bake sale for parents during the French plays! What a great idea! I know you are very busy people and this is just one more thing, but I am encouraging them with this as it was inspired by them. They will take turns selling baked goods. I am hoping that you will be able to contribute twelve to twenty four items to the sale. This could be homemade or packaged cookies, cupcakes, bags of popped corn, ziplock baggies of carrots, etc. The funds raised will go to our new sponsor child.

Thank you again for your continued support,

Ms. McIntosh

Balcarra, May 8th 9:30-1:00

While at Science World on Friday, I received a phone call from Balcarra park informing me that there has been an opening for a Field Trip that we were wait listed for. Seashore Sleuths at Balcarra park allows us to step lightly through the intertidal zone and learn about the sea creatures living there. This should be a very interesting opportunity for us.

We will need 3 volunteer drivers for this field trip. Can you please let me know by by May 1st if you are available.
Thank you
Ms. McIntosh

Science world tomorrow

What a great workshop we had today! Can’t wait to share it all with the kids.
Tomorrow please remember to have your child at school early. We need to leave no later than 8:40, so students should be at school for 8:30. I have a meeting until then, so I’ll leave the door open tomorrow morning so you’re not waiting in the rain. Also, please ensure backpacks only have a lunch kit in them so students aren’t lugging a lot of stuff on the skytrain.

Science world Friday

Good evening,

I just wanted to send a reminder that Friday we are going to Science World.
Ken Larsen has volunteer to come with the class.
It will be a long day, so please ensure to pack a large, bagged lunch.
To ensure we catch the sky train on time, please make sure your child is at school no later than 8:30. We will be leaving shortly after. If you child is ill on Friday, please email me directly as soon as that is decided.
If you have any questions, please email me.
